Door Project
In 3d, we all started out by making a mood board of different door ideas. I did research on Sci-Fi doors, medieval doors, Arched doors, and hidden doors. I decided that I liked the Sci-Fi door style more than the other styles. There were many styles of Sci-Fi doors, so I spent some time researching them, and came to the conclusion that I want to make a combination of a Sci-Fi door, and a Grand door. This proved difficult to design, and included is a picture of some possible concept ideas that I had.
Then we started out with a cube mesh, and stretched out to make the bottom layer. I then used Loop Cut (control and R) in order to make the two side pillars. I then used extrude (E) in order to pull the pillars to my desired height. I then Did the same again in order to make the connecting pillar. To give the doorframe some shape, I decided to bevel (B) the edges of some of the pillars, and also used the Subdivision Surface modifier
In order to make the door, I started out with a cube, switched over to vertices select, and grabbed 4 vertices. I then used the Grab tool (G) in order to pull the vertices inwards and make the door a flatter shape. I then used scale (S) in order to make the door the right size. In order to make it fit, I had to rotate (r) the door to make it fit the door frame.
In the end, I created 3 doors. I created textures in photoshop after unwrapping all of the meshes. I then imported those textures by going into Materials, clicking new material, clicking the yellow button next to the texture box, and clicking image texture. This allowed me to completely texture my doors. Here is the final outcome of my first design.
After i had finished this design, i decided to add the Skin modifier to the door frame and the stairs. This created the effect
